Re: “Maine Voices: Maine should comply with Real ID, Sen. Diamond urges” (March 5):
OK, so Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap is the quintessential liberal Democrat, that’s a given.
Last week, after seeing a vanity plate with an obscene message in place of numbers, I called the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to inquire as to how this could happen. I was informed that Dunlap has relaxed the standards, citing freedom of speech.
It is interesting how that freedom has some interesting quirks. Now, we find Dunlap wants to stand in the way of state IDs that meet federal standards. This guy is such a wackadoodle it isn’t funny. Even fellow Democrat Bill Diamond sees this.
