Conservation Event, 4 p.m. in Portland

This year’s Sebago Trout Unlimited conservation event will be held at the Fireside Inn and Suites in Portland. Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Chandler Woodcock will be the keynote speaker. This family event will have an informal barbecue dinner and short presentations on fly-fishing and conservation. There will be an activity room for kids to learn about trout and conservation.

Raptor Watch, all day in Pownal

Freeport Wild Bird Supply again will sponsor the Spring Hawkwatch at Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal from March 15 to May 15. It marks the 11th consecutive season for this project that gathers valuable data. Birder Zane Baker will be stationed on the summit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. On average, the hawk watch documents more than 1,500 broad-winged hawks, 400 osprey and 75 bald eagles in a season. For more information go to freeportwildbirdsupply.com.

Appalachian Trail meeting, all day, April 8, in Lewiston

The Maine Appalachian Trail Club is holding its annual meeting at Bates College in Lewiston where members and the general public are welcome. The topics will include conservation stories from The Trust for Public Land and the Appalachian Trail, trail maintenance workshops and management of trail use. No cost. All welcome. The annual meeting will be in Pettengill Hall at Bates College at 4 Andrews Rd. For more information, go to matc.org.
