A part-time Brunswick resident was a finalist in the Pulitzer Prize contest’s Autobiography category.

Susan Faludi did not win a Pulitzer – Hisham Matar did for “The Return: Fathers, Sons and the Land in Between” – but Faludi’s “In the Darkroom” was one of three nominees under final consideration in that category.

“In the Darkroom” is a memoir about Faludi’s experiences growing up with a violent, bullying father who had sex reassignment surgery in Thailand at the age of 76.

Faludi is a part-time Brunswick resident and teaches in the Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies program at Bowdoin College.

The Pulitzer Prize winners were announced Monday.
