Nighttime highway work will trigger traffic stoppages on the Maine Turnpike in Kittery on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Traffic will be stopped in both directions between the New Hampshire border and exit 2, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Traffic will be stopped for up to 30 minutes at a time.

Workers are removing high mast light poles next to the highway and traffic will be stopped as a precaution to motorists. Drivers should expect delays and use caution in the area. The work schedule may change depending on weather, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority.
