READING, Pa. — Andrew Pullin hit an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning to lift the Reading Fightin Phils to a 2-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Reading starting pitcher Drew Anderson pitched 6-1/3 no-hit innings before Portland’s Rafael Devers homered to left-center field. He finished with seven strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter in seven innings.

Kevin McAvoy pitched seven innings for Portland (17-14), holding Reading to just one run, on a leadoff home run to Scott Kingery. McAvoy allowed two more hits in the first, but then held Reading (19-13) to just five hits and a walk over his final 6-1/3 innings. He struck out six.

Malquin Canelo led off the bottom of the eight with a single for Reading. He stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch before scoring on Pullin’s single to give the Fightin Phils a 2-1 lead.
