Regarding the May 16 editorial, “Our View: War on drugs, take two, won’t be any better”:

It’s easy to aim potshots at policies and politicians and otherwise criticize same, which is precisely what the Portland Press Herald did in the subject editorial.

It’s far more difficult to identify and propose specific solutions and alternatives to problems. It would certainly be in the interests of its readers, and the country as a whole, for the Press Herald and other news organizations to adopt an op-ed policy emphasizing critical analysis and alternative solutions over the continuing incitement and instigation that are tearing this country apart.
