A four-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Kennebunk injured three people and closed Webber Hill Road for 2½ hours, said Deputy Police Chief Michael Nugent.

The accident involving two cars and two motorcycles happened around 4:30 p.m. near Maguire Road, Nugent said in a written statement that didn’t identify any drivers or passengers involved in the crash.

Investigators believe a car traveling west on Webber Hill Road hit the rear end of another car that had slowed for a vehicle turning onto Maguire Road, Nugent said. Then the first car flipped onto its roof and struck two motorcycles that were traveling east on Webber Hill Road.

The drivers of one of the cars and one of the motorcycles were taken by ambulance to Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. The driver of the second motorcycle was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Webber Hill Road was closed from Clear Brooke Crossing to the Sanford town line until about 7 p.m. The accident remains under investigation.

Nugent said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
