NEWPORT, R.I. — Jimmy Kerr went 3 for 3 with five RBI and Ryland Kerr drove in four runs as the Sanford Mainers routed the Newport Gulls 18-6 in a New England College Baseball League game Monday night.

The Mainers built an 8-0 lead with four runs in the second inning and four more in the third. Ryland Kerr hit a three-run homer in the third inning.

Sanford added 10 runs in the last three innings, including seven in the eighth.

Bryan Sturges contributed four hits and three RBI. Mark Connor earned the win, allowing one hit in five scoreless innings.

EMPIRE LEAGUE

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 11, SULLIVAN 3: The Surge turned two walks, an error, two wild pitches, a passed ball and a sacrifice fly into a tie-breaking three-run rally in the sixth inning against the Explorers at The Ballpark.

Mike Davis hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Dave Gallagher also drove in two runs for OOB.

AMERICAN LEGION

BRUNO’S RESTAURANT 1, WESTBROOK 1: Donny Tocci held Westbrook (5-5-1) to one run on two hits in striking out 12, but Bruno’s (11-4-1) had to settle for a tie in a game called after eight innings because of darkness at Westbrook.

Westbrook pitcher Dustin Delponte struck out six and gave up six hits.

Westbrook took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Justin Coppeta singled, stole second and came home on Lucas Knapton’s single up the middle.

Bruno’s tied it in the fifth on a double by Chris Vincent and a single by Danny Tocci.

YANKEE FORD 9, ANDREWS 3: Sam Troiano’s home run in the fourth inning broke a 3-3 tie and Yankee Ford (12-3) pulled away against Andrews (9-7) in Falmouth.

Andrews tied the game in the third when Max Fortier doubled home two runs and scored on Will Snyder’s single.

Griffin Kelley led Yankee Ford with three hits and three RBI.

JUNIOR LEGION

THIRSTY TURF 5, SACOPEE VALLEY 4: Nick Thompson doubled home two runs and scored on John Welch’s single as Thirsty Turf (14-1) scored five runs in the fourth inning to overcome an early 3-0 deficit against Sacopee Valley (8-7) in Portland.

Conner MacDonald struck out 12 for Thirsty Turf, and Sacopee’s Jared Jordan recorded 11 strikeouts.

Cody Allen and Dylan Miner each had three of Sacopee’s eight hits.

RMSL

OSSIPEE TRAIL MOTORS/SALMON FALLS C.C. SPLITS WITH GREELY: Nick Butler and Nathan Cyr combined on a two-hitter as Greely (5-8-1) earned a 9-1 victory over Ossipee (4-14) in the second game of a doubleheader in Cumberland.

Ossipee won the opener, 9-3.

SOUTH PORTLAND SPLITS WITH BIRD’S EYE PAINTING: Zach Johnson tripled and continued home to score the go-ahead run on a throwing error in the third inning, and South Portland (11-3) held on for a 3-2 win against Bird’s Eye (8-5-2) in the second game of a doubleheader in Windham.

Bird’s Eye won the opener, 4-2.

Kyle Herzog singled home Evan Millett with the tie-breaking run in the bottom of the sixth and scored on a groundout.

BABE RUTH 14

AUGUSTA 18, TRI-COUNTY 1: Riley Geyer, Akira Warren and Nick Barber each drove in three runs as Augusta won the state tournament for 14-year-olds with a mercy-rule win in Augusta.

Tri-County was undefeated in pool play, including a 4-1 win over Augusta on Saturday, but Augusta got off to a quick start in the championship game, scoring twice in the top of the first inning.

Augusta broke the game open with a three-run fourth and a four-run fifth that made it 10-1. An eight-run sixth inning put the mercy rule in effect when Tri-County was unable to mount a comeback.

Logan Dupont pitched a six-hitter to earn the win.
