University of New England graduate Taylor Langevin of Sanford was selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference’s nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Langevin, a four-year starter in women’s soccer who graduated summa cum laude in May with a degree in medical biology, is one of 53 nominees in Division III. A selection committee will narrow the list to 10 candidates in each division, and three finalists in each division will be announced in September. The winners will be announced Oct. 22 in Indianapolis.

• Scott Cochrane used an 8-iron to ace the 135-yard fifth hole at Biddeford-Saco Country Club. Sammy Tanguay, Bob Gaudette and Ken Bissell witnessed the shot.

• The Scarborough 9-10-year-old All-Stars won the state championship, beating Shaker Valley 2-1 in the championship game on Saturday. Scarborough advances to play in the regional championship from July 28-Aug. 4 in Jenkins Township, Pennsylvania.
