BRISTOL, Conn. — Brianna Roberts pitched a four-hitter Tuesday as Monroe, New York, ousted Biddeford from the Little League 11-12 Softball East Regional with a 10-0 victory in four innings.

Earlier in the day, Biddeford suffered its first loss of the double-elimination event, falling 15-2 to Newark, Delaware, in five innings.

In the second game, Kelsey O’Brien had two hits and drove in four runs for Monroe, which scored six runs in the first inning, three on a double by Arianna Exarchakis.

Charlotte Donovan had two singles, and Laura Perreault and Vanessa Hale added singles for Biddeford.

In the first game, Biddeford was held to five singles, hit by Donovan, Baylor Wilkinson, Hannah Gosselin, Vanessa Hale and Kerri Scott.

Wilkinson and Hale each scored a run, and Lexi Libby had an RBI for Biddeford.

BIRD’S EYE PAINTING 9, GORHAM 0: Bryce Afthim struck out 11 in a two-hitter and also drove home six runs to lead top-ranked Bird’s Eye to a quarterfinal victory over eighth-seeded Gorham at Windham.

Bird’s Eye took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Mason Rosborough doubled and scored on Kobe Lauzier’s groundout, then expanded the lead to 4-0 with a third-inning rally highlighted by Afthim’s two-run single.

SOUTH PORTLAND 5, WESTBROOK 1: Caden Horton’s two-run double powered a three-run first inning for second-seeded South Portland against seventh-ranked Westbrook at South Portland.

Anthony Poole, who singled home Khem Johnston for the first run, scored on the double with Zach Johnson. Horton added another RBI with a sacrifice fly to scored Poole in the third. Riley Hasson added the final run on a double steal.

BRUNO’S RESTAURANT 10, NOVA SEAFOOD 3: Donny Tocci drove home four runs, three on a homer, and was the winning pitcher as fourth-seeded Bruno’s moved into the semifinals by beating fifth-ranked Nova at Portland.

Bruno’s overcame a 3-1 deficit with a four-run third keyed by RBI singles from Tocci and Will Snyder. Tocci added his home run during a five-run sixth.

GREELY 5, OSSIPEE TRAIL MOTORS/SALMON FALLS CC 2: Sixth-ranked Greely went to extra innings to win its quarterfinal, scoring three times in the eighth to beat third-ranked Ossipee at Standish.

A.J. Eisenhart scored the go-ahead run, reaching when he was hit by a pitch, then advancing to third on an infield single and another hit batter. He scored on a wild pitch. Connor Sullivan and Joe Cimino followed with RBI singles.

SANFORD 8, KEENE 1: Harrison Ray had three hits and five RBI to lead the Sanford Mainers (16-23) over the Keene Swamp Bats (18-19) at Keene, New Hampshire.

JUNIOR LEGION

THIRSTY TURF 17, TOPSHAM 3: Justin Ray lined a two-run triple, finishing with three RBI to lead Thirsty Turf (16-1) to a five-inning victory over Topsham (10-8) at Portland, and a berth in the state tournament.

Hayden O’Donnell and Nick Thompson drove home two runs each for Thirsty Turf, and Jack Mullen struck out eight in five innings.

CAPE ELIZABETH 5, CHEBEAGUE ISLAND BOATYARD 0: Carson Sullivan doubled home two runs in the third inning to break a scoreless tie and set Cape Elizabeth its way to a victory at Yarmouth that produced a berth in the state tournament.
