A construction crew installing a new water line near Marginal Way struck and broke an 8-inch water main Thursday morning, the Portland Water District said.

Businesses on Marginal Way between Chestnut Street and Franklin Arterial are expected to be without water until about 1 p.m., said Michelle Clements, a water district spokeswoman.

“We are actually on scene and have been able to locate the valve, isolate the leak, and the repairs will be made shortly,” Clements said.
