According to Wednesday’s Portland Press Herald, 2nd District U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin appears to have undergone a major transformation: “Poliquin: If no ‘replace,’ he’ll oppose ACA repeal” (Page B1).

The transformation really has no relation to the policy implications of his stated position. The transformation is all about the fact that he actually has and was willing to communicate any policy position at all.

For a representative who would sooner run to the restroom than speak to reporters, saying anything at all in “a prepared statement” represents a watershed change in his behavior. Who knows – perhaps he will eventually grow into the role of “representative” of the people of the 2nd District and accept the responsibilities that implies.
