Ryan Flaherty is coming back to Hadlock Field.

Flaherty, the Portland native and Baltimore Orioles utility player, will make a rehab appearance Friday evening when the Bowie Baysox play the Portland Sea Dogs.

Flaherty, 31, has been on the disabled list since May because of right shoulder tendinitis. He last played for the Orioles on May 18. He began a rehab assignment July 27, first with Bowie, and then with Class A Frederick.

By putting him back on the Bowie roster, the Orioles are allowing Flaherty to come home. Flaherty played at Deering High, so Hadlock Field is familiar turf.

On Saturday, the Sea Dogs will have their own rehab player, with Red Sox reliever Carson Smith scheduled to pitch. Flaherty also is expected to play Saturday.
