Volunteers wanted to help with Ironman triathlon

Volunteers are being sought for the Ironman 70.3 Maine Triathlon, scheduled for Aug. 25-27.

Interested participants may select the shift and duty of their choosing, including athlete check-in station, handing out race packets, water, refreshments or goody bags, checking IDs and the like.

Seacoast Garden Club has meeting, installs officers

The Seacoast Garden Club held its 34th annual meeting and luncheon recently, installing new officers and raising funds for charitable causes.

Newly elected were co-presidents Jean Moulton and Anne Gould, co-vice presidents Malinda Scannell and Kathryn Wittner, recording secretary Sandy Severance, corresponding secretary Annette Bowler and treasurer Carol Olson. Delta Burke installed the new officers.

Connie Yena, the club’s longest active member, was honored for 37 years.

Members contributed more than 700 plants and baked 103 pies, sold to raise more than $2,600 to support programs, including beautification projects at gardens in Dock Square, at Kennebunk Library and Town Hall, and Kennebunkport Post Office.
