Lewiston police are warning residents about a potentially rabid fox that has bitten two people in the last two days.

The first reported bite, on Thursday, occurred on Hackett Street in Lewiston. The second happened Friday on Willow Circle.

Anyone who sees a fox in the city should not approach it, and should contact Lewiston police at 784-6421 and press 1, or call the Maine Warden Service at 657-3030.
