A pair of Belfast goats are in trouble with the law again.

According to the Belfast Police Department’s Facebook page, Louis and Mowgli escaped their pen on High Street and were found Monday wandering on the city’s rail trail by Sgt. Daniel Fitzpatrick.

“Here we go(at) again. Louis and Mowgli decided to grace the rail trail in Belfast again today, and fortunately for them their ole pal, Sgt. Fitzpatrick was sprung from jury duty to collect them up and bring them home. Now “kids” get some rest,” Belfast police posted.

Louis and Mowgli are the same pygmy goats that got lost in Belfast in April. Fitzpatrick gave the goats a ride in his cruiser after he found the critters snacking on cat food in a woman’s garage. The officer used a cat leash to lead them into his cruiser.

When Belfast police posted that story on Facebook it went viral with more than 1,475 people sharing the post shortly after it appeared online.

As he did the first time he encountered the goats, Fitzpatrick took several photographs of the animals, including three shots of the goats licking his cheek. He placed the goats in the rear seat of his cruiser before returning the animals to their owner.

Though Monday’s post did not evoke as huge a response as it did earlier this year, it had been shared 87 times by Monday evening. Comments ranged from “You can’t keep smart kids penned up for long” and “Naughty little buggers” to “They missed you Sgt.” and “I think it is time for them to be deputized, they work for hay.”
