The Maine Democratic Party announced Tuesday that it has hired Scott Ogden, a former deputy communications director for U.S. Sen. Angus King, to serve as its communications director.

Prior to working for King, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, Ogden was on the staff of former U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine.

“We are excited to have Scott join our team,” Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Katie Mae Simpson said in a prepared statement. “His skills will be integral as the Maine Democratic Party shares our positive vision with Maine voters. Scott shares our love for Maine and our desire to elect people who will help build an economy that works for everyone. By using his skills to help us elect a Democrat to the Blaine House, he’ll help do that.”

Ogden was raised in Monmouth and graduated from Bowdoin College in 2010.
