WARREN — A 26-year-old prisoner at the Bolduc Correctional Center was recaptured after he walked away from the prison farm Wednesday.
Jacob Carney, formerly of Surry, was apprehended by Rockland police at about 9 p.m. in an area behind the Breakwater Marketplace along Fales Street, which is about nine miles from the prison.
Maine Department of Corrections Commissioner Joseph Fitzpatrick said a prison fugitive recovery team formally arrested Carney.
He was sentenced in March 2016 in Hancock County Superior Court in Ellsworth to 30 months in prison for felony theft of an iPhone from an Ellsworth High School student.
Carney had been scheduled to be released in March 2018. The commissioner said he likely will be charged with escape.
No information was released on how he got to Rockland.
