FREEPORT — Catriona Gould scored with 25 minutes remaining Friday to lift Freeport to a 1-0 victory against Cape Elizabeth in a Western Maine Conference girls’ soccer opener.

Lilia Membrino stopped seven shots for Cape Elizabeth. Carly Intraversato turned back 14 shots for Freeport.

WELLS 2, LAKE REGION 1: The Warriors took a 2-0 halftime lead and held on to win an opener at Naples.

Hannah Cottis scored from Sarah Webb and Kenzie Boss made it 2-0 unassisted.

Mindy Miller scored from a scramble for Lake Region in the second half.

Madison Rock turned aside 12 shots for the Lakers. Lauren Bartlett had a pair of saves for the Warriors.

ST. DOMINIC 2, WAYNFLETE 1: Avery Lutrzykowski scored twice in the second half to rally St. Dom’s in an opener at Portland.

Lutrzykowski took a feed from Rileigh Stebbins and tucked home a breakaway to break a 1-1 tie with 3:12 left.

Waynflete led 1-0 at the half on Ava Farrar’s goal from Emi Boedecker. Lutrzykowski tied it with 13 minutes to play on a breakaway pass from Emily Wallingford.

GREELY 3, YORK 0: Skyler Cooney, Anna DeWolfe and Julia Martel scored in the second half for the Rangers in an opener at Cumberland.

Lily Brodsky recorded eight saves for York. Molly Matthews stopped six shots for Greely.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 13, BOOTHBAY REGION 0: Audrey Fletcher had four goals and an assist as the Mustangs rolled in an opener at Boothbay Harbor,

Tia Day had three goals and three assists, and Alicen Burnham added two goals. Emily Grandahl, Natalie Grandahl, Taylor Dumont and Emma Johnson also scored.

Annie Dryer had 13 saves for Boothbay.

DEERING 1, MAINE GIRLS’ ACADEMY 0: Candy Odhiambo scored from Sahar Habibzai with 5:51 left in the first half, and the Rams held off the visiting Lions in an opener at Portland.

SCARBOROUGH 2, FALMOUTH 1: Ellie Patten drove home a penalty kick with five minutes remaining, breaking a 1-1 tie as Scarborough won an opener at home.

The Yachtsmen scored halfway through the first half on a 35-yard free kick by Cali Wiberg. Sarah Callahan tied it for the Red Storm five minutes later from Ashley Sabatino.

YARMOUTH 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Sara D’Appolonia and Hannah Corey scored for the Clippers in an opener at Gray-New Gloucester.

Hannah Dwyer recorded an assist for Yarmouth, which outshot Gray-New Gloucester, 21-1. Chelsea Davis made nine saves for the Patriots.

MARSHWOOD 3, THORNTON ACADEMY 1: Katherine Page, Rori Coomey and Marin Smith scored second-half goals to lift the Hawks in an opener at South Berwick.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Maegan Halle scored on a penalty kick in the fourth minute and the Seagulls won an opener at Yarmouth.

Aisley Snell recorded 10 saves for NYA. Kaitlyn Cote stopped three shots for Old Orchard Beach.

GORHAM 4, DEERING 0: Molly Barr scored twice to lead Gorham (1-1) over visiting Deering (0-2).

Lydia Gaudreau scored with 12:58 remaining – the only goal of the first half. Barr scored twice and Grace McGouldrick once in the second half.

MASSABESIC 5, WINDHAM 1: Camryn Champion scored three goals, two in a two-minute span to break a 1-1 tie midway through the first half as the Mustangs won an opener at Waterboro.

Em Rutledge opened the scoring for Massabesic after 6:45 but Mya Volk tied it 10 minutes later.

BIDDEFORD 8, BONNY EAGLE 1: Sarrah Marcotte scored four goals to lead the Tigers (2-0) over the Scots (0-2) at Biddeford.

Peyton McKeown recorded two goals, and Abby Allen and Hailey Allen also scored for the Tigers. Paige Laverriere finished with three assists.

WESTBROOK 4, SANFORD 2: Avery Tucker scored two goals, and broke a 2-2 tie with 18:33 left as the Blue Blazes (2-0) beat the Spartans (0-1) at Sanford.

Westbrook took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Mary Keef and Katie Champagne. Sanford tied it at halftime on goals by Phoebe Joy and Kyleigh Cote. Tucker put in her go-ahead goal, then added another with 9:36 to play.

SCARBOROUGH 3, FALMOUTH 1: Lucy Malia, Rachel Paradis and Caroline Timpson scored as the Red Storm (2-0) beat the Yachtsmen (0-2) at Falmouth.

Liberty Ladd answered for Falmouth in the second half.

BOOTHBAY REGION 11, TELSTAR 0: Sydney Meader had three goals and two assists, and Kyie Brown added three goals and one assist as the Seahawks opened by beating Telstar (0-2) at Boothbay Harbor.

SOUTH PORTLAND 3, NOBLE 1: Lydia Grant scored twice, including a goal that broke a 1-1 tie after five minutes of the second half as the Red Riots (1-1) beat the Knights (0-2) at South Portland.

Bonge Lake put South Portland ahead with an unassisted goal midway through the first half. Kassidy Lessard tied it with 5:12 left in the first.

VOLLEYBALL

YARMOUTH 3, YORK 0: Marie LeBlanc recorded six aces for the Clippers in an opener at Yarmouth.

Kaitlyn Bennett added six kills for the Clippers, who won 25-11, 25-10 and 25-15.

Corina Lombardi had three kills for the Wildcats.

WINDHAM 3, CHEVERUS 1: Megan Fleck and Sierra Guite combined to lead Windham over the Stags 25-14, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17 in an opener at Portland.

Fleck had 23 assists and eight aces, and Guite added six kills and four blocks.

PORTLAND 3, MASSABESIC 1: Sophia Silva had seven assists and Kiera Eubanks added four kills as the Bulldogs captured an opener at Portland.

Ashley Chadbourne had three blocks and three kills for Portland, which won 25-10, 25-10 and 25-12. Lauren Kiss finished with five aces for Massabesic.
