Rain forced the cancellation of the Portland Sea Dogs’ game with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Sunday at Hadlock Field. It will not be made up.

The rain began just before 1 p.m., when the game was scheduled to begin. It was called at 1:50 p.m.

Normally, rained-out games are postponed and re-scheduled as part of a doubleheader. But Monday is the final game of the regular season and teams have the option not to play a doubleheader, especially if the teams are not contending for the playoffs.

Neither Portland (65-73), nor New Hampshire (58-80) will be involved in the post-season this year.

Monday’s game will feature the annual Field of Dreams celebration, with players emerging from a “cornfield” in center field and eventually entering the stands to greet the fans. The festivities will begin at 1 p.m., with the game starting around 1:20 p.m.
