BIDDEFORD — Olivia Madore scored less than four minutes into overtime to give the University of New England field hockey team a 1-0 win over Bowdoin on Sunday.

Madore got a breakaway after a violation by Bowdoin (6-4) on a penalty corner. Her first shot was blocked by Polar Bears goalie Maddie Ferruci, but Madore followed up the rebound and took a shot into the left edge of the cage for the winner.

Liz Sargent finished with seven saves for UNE (10-4).

Ferrucci had five for the Polar Bears.

MAINE 4, VERMONT 0: Madison Cummings led the Black Bears (8-4, 2-1 AE) with two goals and an assist, while Libby Riedl and Brianna Ricker added goals, to take down Vermont (4-8, 0-3) in Orono.

Rieldl beat Vermont goalkeeper Lena Benwood for a 1-0 lead. Cummings made it a 2-0 halftime lead off a penalty corner after Ella Mosky missed on the original shot.

Cummings recorded her second goal of the game when Casey Crowley passed to Cummings in front of an open net for a tip-in during the 63rd minute.

Cummings nearly completed her hat trick less than a minute later, but Ricker got a piece of the ball for the goal.

Emma Cochran had two saves for Maine. Benwood made 12 stops for Vermont.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

VERMONT 1, MAINE 0: Savana Yurick scored with an assist from Colby Snyder with 10 minutes left in regulation as the Catamounts (6-5-2, 2-1-1 America East) beat the Black Bears (4-8-1, 2-3) in Burlington, Vermont.

Samantha Cobotic made four saves for Maine in relief of Annalena Kriesbisch, who made one save before leaving with an injury. It was Cobotic’s first action of 2017.

Coco Speckmaier had three saves for Vermont.

The Catamounts had a 6-3 edge in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

BATES 3, ELMS 0: Sarah Dutch, Riley Turcotte and Elizabeth Bennett each scored a goal as the Bobcats (6-4-1) beat the Blazers (9-5) in Lewiston.

Gutch gave Bates a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when she curled in a corner kick.

Turcotte scored on a rebound with 33:11 left in the second half and Bennett completed the scoring when she scored from Nellie Breen.

Bates’ Sarah McCarthy made three saves in 74 minutes and shared the shutout with Katherine Nuckols, who did not face a shot over the final 16 minutes. Rebecca Molin made three saves for the Blazers.

BOWDOIN 4, HUSSON 0: Four players scored as the Polar Bears (7-3-1) beat the Eagles (6-5) in Brunswick.

Morgen Gallagher scored from Emma Beane in the first half to give Bowdoin a 1-0 lead. Talia Missan, Julia Patterson and Nikki Wilson each added a goal, while Gallagher, Brigit Bergin, Lynn Farquhar and Aine Lawlor each had an assist.

Sabrina Albanese had two saves for Bates, while Sami Ireland had 13 for Husson.

MEN’S SOCCER

BOWDOIN 2, BATES 1: Jake Stenquist scored on a penalty kick after the Bobcats (4-3-2, 1-3-2 NESCAC ) were called for a foul in the box, to break a 1-1 tie with 23:29 left to play to lift Bowdoin (9-2, 5-1) in Lewiston.

Matty McColl scored on a rebound of his own corner kick to give the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead. Bates tied it up when Eric Opuko’s shot was deflected in by a Bowdoin defender for an own goal.

Stevie Van Siclen made five saves for Bowdoin and Montanaro one for Bates.

PINE MANOR 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Daniel Mata and Jose Corrales each scored second-half goals to lead Pine Manor College (6-4-1) to a come-from-behind victory over the Huskies (5-7-1) in Gorham.

Jonathan Bobe scored with an assist from MK Mohamed in the first half to give Southern Maine a 1-0 lead.

Mata scored eight minutes into the second half to tie the game and Correles ran onto a through ball from Brian Wade to give Pine Manor the lead.

Richard Glemawu made six saves for Southern Maine.

Angel Pena had three saves in the victory for Pine Manor.
