For the past four election cycles, I’ve had the privilege and challenge of serving as the volunteer chair of the endorsement committee of the Portland chapter of the Maine People’s Alliance. This year, I am particularly proud to support Portland City Council at-large candidate Joey Brunelle. He has well earned the alliance’s endorsement.
Joey’s intelligence, integrity, compassion and legendary, unstoppable energy have all been evident in his commitment to working for all Portlanders on issues as varied as saving the India Street public health clinic, rebuilding the city’s four aging elementary schools and developing creative affordable-housing solutions.
Perhaps most remarkable, however, is Joey’s preparation for and understanding of what it means to be a city councilor. He is the rare candidate who will be ready and able to lead on Day One. I invite my fellow city residents to seize the opportunity this November to vote for Joey Brunelle, for all of Portland.
