HAMPDEN — One goal was enough.

The Bangor Christian boys soccer team avenged a 2014 loss to Richmond in the state final, riding a 12th-minute goal from Tyler Lehman to hand the Bobcats a 1-0 loss in the Class D state championship game Saturday evening at Hampden Academy.

Lehman scored off a header for Bangor Christian (16-2-0), as the Patriots won their second straight state title.

Richmond (16-2-0) had two chances to tie the game in the final five minutes of regulation, but the Bobcats came up short. In the 75th minute, Nate Kendrick’s 25-yard drive forced a diving save from Patriot goalkeeper Austin Keib, with Matt Rines just pushing his rebound chance wide of the left post.

In the final minute, Rines’ header from inside the 18-yard box just skipped over the crossbar by inches.
