With tax reform now front and center on the congressional agenda, it has never been more essential that Donald Trump release his tax returns.
I would like to think that even his most ardent supporters would be curious as to how he and his family would likely benefit from the reforms he is putting forward. The proposed elimination of the estate tax and the significant lowering of tax rates for “pass-through” income have enormous potential for tax savings for the Trump enterprise.
I sincerely hope that principled politicians of both parties will insist on Trump’s revealing his personal financial circumstances before agreeing to further his tax agenda, no matter how much it is seemingly presented to be for the benefit of the middle class.
