BELFAST, Northern Ireland — Ryan Tait scored two goals Friday night as Providence College shut out the University of Maine 3-0 in a Hockey East game.

The meeting was part of the Friendship Four weekend tournament. The Black Bears (4-7, 3-4) will meet RPI (2-8-3) at 10 a.m. Saturday. RPI fell to Clarkson 2-0 in the other game at Belfast.

Tait’s first goal for Providence (8-4-1, 5-3-1) came 15:12 into the second period from Bryan Lemos and Jason O’Neill.

Brian Pinho made it 2-0 after 8:39 of the third, and Tait added his second goal eight minutes later.

Jeremy Swayman had 34 saves for the Black Bears.

MIAMI 80, MAINE 70: Erykah Davenport had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Mykea Gray added 16 points as the Hurricanes (4-1) beat the Black Bears (3-2) in the opening round of the Miami Thanksgiving tournament in Florida.

Miami took a 30-20 lead with 7:56 left in the second quarter but Maine closed the half on a 17-7 run to make it 37-37 at halftime. The Hurricanes opened the third quarter on a 10-0 run, seven from Davenport.

Two free throws from Julie Brosseau cut the lead to 47-39 but Miami closed the quarter on a 19-12 run to take a 66-51 lead.

Blanca Millan scored a game-high 21 points for the Back Bears. Brosseau added 20.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 3, UNION 3: Tereza Vanisova scored twice, including the tying goal with just over a minute left in the third period, as the Black Bears (9-6-2) tied the Dutchmen (3-8-2) at Schenectady, New York.

Maine led 2-0 early on goals from Vendula Pribylova and Vanisova, but Union scored three straight before Vanisova tied it from Ebba Strandberg.
