WATERVILLE — Thomas Stahlhuth scored the tiebreaking goal with 9:05 remaining to lift Colby to a 4-2 win over Bowdoin in a New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s hockey game Friday night at Alfond Rink.

Phil Kilitirinos added an empty-net goal in the closing seconds, and Kienan Scott and Michael Decker also scored for Colby (3-2, 2-1 NESCAC), which got 34 saves from Sean Lawrence.

Austin Ricci and Daniel McMullan scored for Bowdoin (2-4, 1-2), while Alex Zafonte made 31 saves. McMullan tied the game 6:48 into the third period after Decker put the Mules ahead a few minutes earlier.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 7, SUFFOLK 2: Andrew Slotnick scored twice and added an assist, and Ryan Bloom added a short-handed goal and two assists for the Nor’easters (5-3-1 3-3-1 CCC) in a win over the Rams (5-5, 2-5) in Biddeford.

Tyler Seltenreich, Neil Maietta, Jeff Eppright and Christian Rossetti also scored for UNE, which pulled away with four goals in the third-period.

UNE goalie Ben Churchfield made 34 saves.

SOUTHERN MAINE 2, NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 2: Tristan Dundas scored with 2:35 remaining in regulation to help USM (1-7-2, 1-4-2 NEHC) salvage a tie against the Pilgrims (6-4-1, 3-3-1) in Gorham.

Mike Whitehair gave New England College an early 1-0 lead, which stood through the first two periods. Parker Sanderson tied the game 2:13 into the third period, assisted by Conor Ferrera and Mark Tomaschek, before the Pilgrims regained the lead on a power-play goal by Connor Fries at 7:13.

USM goalie Anthony D’Aloisio finished with 31 saves. Kyle Shapiro made 27 saves for the Pilgrims.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

BATES 67, UMAINE-AUGUSTA 58: Nina Davenport scored her 1,000th career point and finished with 25 points and six steals to lead the Bobcats (2-4) past the Moose (5-2) in Lewiston.

Davenport, a 5-11 senior from Freeport, is the 20th women’s player in school history to reach 1,000 points.

Melanie Binkhorst added 11 points for Bates

Caitlyn LaFountain recorded 23 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks for UMA. Kate Stevens grabbed 21 rebounds.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, UMASS-BOSTON 1: Emily Harris scored in the second period for the Beacons (4-4-2), but Brooke Solomon scored twice in the third period to lift the Polar Bears (2-0-1) to a win in Brunswick.

Sophia Lattanzio made 14 saves for Bowdoin, while UMB’s Rachel Myette stopped 32 shots.

HAMILTON 1, COLBY 0: Andrea Rockey scored 40 seconds into overtime to give the Continentals (3-2, 3-0 NESCAC) a victory over the Mules (1-3-1, 0-2-1) in Clinton, New York.

Sam Walther made 23 saves for the shutout. Cierra San Roman stopped 27 shots for Colby.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 3, ST. MICHAEL’S 2: Shannon Upton’s first collegiate goal broke a 1-1 tie in the second period, and Tatum Gietl got the eventual winner early in the third period as the Nor’easters (3-2-4) edged the Purple Knights (2-9) in South Burlington, Vermont.

UNE also got a power-play goal in the first period from Kyra Yu. Caty Flagg made 23 saves for the Nor’easters.

Ashley Dineen and Katherine O’Brien scored for St. Michael’s.
