A global food company based in Japan has issued a voluntary recall of dozens of products because they contain vegetables that are part of a wider frozen food recall issued last week.

Ajinomoto Windsor Inc. is voluntarily recalling dozens of frozen food items due to the potential for these products to be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, according to a news release from the company. The recalled products contain vegetables that are part of the recent CRF Frozen Foods recall.

Listeria monocytogenes is bacteria that can cause sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. No illnesses to date have been reported to Ajinomoto Windsor Inc. for the products involved in the recall.

Scarborough-based Hannaford Supermarkets said two products – Tai Pei Shrimp Fried Rice, 12 oz., UPC #70077-00106, and Taste of Inspirations Chicken Poblano Firecrackers, 8 oz., UPC#7-25439-98501 – have been sold in its stores, and can be returned for refunds.

Some of the products listed in the recall are sold under the brand names of Tai Pei frozen meals, VIP frozen vegetables and Molly’s Kitchen. All of the products have a use-by date of Nov. 5, 2017.
