L.L. Bean is bringing together nearly three dozen authors this weekend for its first annual Holiday Book Festival.

Most of the authors are either from Maine, or their books cover topics related to Maine and New England. Among the authors who will be making an appearance at the festival are the artist and children's author Dahlov Ipcar, former governor Angus King and Kate Gooding, author of "Black Fly Stew," a cookbook that shows how to turn wild Maine game into tasty dishes.

The authors will be signing their books from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Bean's flagship store on Main Street in Freeport, and at the L.L. Bean Home Store located just across the street.

The book festival is part of the store's Northern Lights seasonal event that features activities such as horse-and-carriage rides, entertainment and a New Year's celebration for children.
