Friends, food and fond memories

— Serving everything from veggie pita sandwiches to double bacon cheeseburgers, Alan's Incredible Edibles opened in 1981 on Portland's Exchange Street and remained a popular eatery for breakfast and lunch until it closed in 1987. It was owned by Alan and Sandy Lovell. Former employees held a reunion Feb. 6 at the Pepperclub. Those in attendance included Bonnie Blythe, Jill Osgood, Carla Bryson, Alan Lovell and Angie Purdy Harrison, Stephanie Merrill, Amy Strum, Maria Crouch, Reggie Osborn and Sandy Lovell.

BOWDEN CHAIR OF 2010 LUNCHEON

The Maine Cancer Foundation's annual Cure Breast Cancer for ME luncheon is always a success. This year the woman in charge of that success will be Susan Bowden of the Maine Center for Cancer Medicine.

Susan Rowan, executive director of Maine Cancer Foundation, says it's a perfect fit because Bowden understands the needs of patients and their families.

Bowden has worked in oncology for 20 years and is currently the director of nursing and clinical services at MCCM.

This year's luncheon will be held Oct. 4 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland. Call 773-2533 for tickets and information.
