LAGRANGE — A 34-year-old man is being held on a murder charge in last week's death of his wife at their home.
Jeremy Hart of LaGrange was arrested at a convenience store in Searsport on Sunday night. Hart is charged with killing Kristin Smart Hart, 25, whose body was found in the home in a remote section of LaGrange where they lived with their three children, ages 9, 6 and 2.
Hart was taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. He is expected in court today.
Police did not release details about their investigation, but said that the death was a domestic violence homicide.
The Harts, whose home was on a dirt road known locally as Dreadlock Lane, were victims of a home invasion in 2003 in which three men wearing ski masks burst into their home, dragged Jeremy Hart from his bed and threatened him with a gun.
The men took about $1,000 in cash, two one-gallon bags filled with marijuana and the family's sport utility vehicle, the Bangor Daily News reported. After the robbery, the Harts said they grew and sold marijuana from their home, the newspaper said.
The Harts testified in 2004 at the trial of Walter Cobb, one of three men who were charged in the robbery. Cobb was sentenced to 25 years in prison, and two accomplices were sentenced to serve five and eight years.
