Portland Pirates Today

— The Pirates, who have earned at least one point in four of their last five games, started the weekend in fifth place in the AHL's eight-team Atlantic Division. Rookie center Tyler Ennis has 13 goals and a team-high 28 assists to lead the team with 41 points. Right wing Mark Mancari has 40 points, including a team-high 18 goals. Left wing Nathan Gerbe, who has missed 13 games because of injury and a call-up to the NHL, is averaging nearly a point per game. While starting 14 of Portland's last 16 games, Jhonas Enroth has compiled a 1.79 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.

WHO: Pirates vs. Lowell Devils

WHERE: Cumberland County Civic Center

NOTES: Lowell, which plays Portland for the third time in less than two weeks, doesn't have a player among the AHL's top 35 players in points, but it does have the league's top-rated power play (23.5 percent). The Devils could be without two of their top scorers, right wings Nick Palmieri and Patrick Davis, who were called up to New Jersey during the AHL All-Star break. The return of defenseman Matt Corrente, who spent the last 21/2 months in the NHL, should provide a boost. In his last two starts against Portland, former Pirate goalie Mike McKenna has allowed a total of three goals. The Pirates hold a 3-2 edge in the season series.
