Windham outlasts Sanford

SANFORD — Carly Grondin scored in the second overtime to give Windham a 4-3 victory over Sanford in an SMAA field hockey game Friday.

Natalie Harkins set up the winning goal, working the ball up the wing and drawing the goalie out of the cage. She made a flat pass to Grondin, who one-timed it into the goal.

Krystal Shaw of Sanford (7-4) scored the only goal of the first half. Molly McVety answered for Windham (6-3-2) at 10:34 of the second half with the first of her two goals. The Redskins regained the lead on a Kim Vogel penalty stroke, but Harkins tied it again just two minutes later.

McVety's second goal, with 7:44 left in regulation, gave the Eagles their first lead. Selina Dong then scored with five seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

SCARBOROUGH 2, WEST-BROOK 0: Ashley Anastasoff and Rachel Millett scored in the final 5:05 of the first half to lead the Red Storm (11-0) to a win at Westbrook (7-4).

Brittany Ross recorded an assist, and Jordie Saunders needed just one save for a shutout.

Lizzy Conley made 18 saves for the Blue Blazes.

GORHAM 3, MARSH-WOOD 0: Chelsea Black had two goals and an assist for the Rams (10-1) in their win over the Hawks (4-7) at Gorham.

Kayleigh Ballantyne added a goal and two assists.

THORNTON ACADEMY 3, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Katrina Thibodeau had a goal and an assist to pace the Trojans (7-5) in a win over the Red Riots (4-7) at South Portland.

Thibodeau scored an unassisted goal just 1:16 into the contest, and Christine Kirby made it 2-0 at 6:01. Kim Dao added a second-half goal.

Zoe Colton made six saves for the shutout.

DEERING 7, MASSABE-SIC 2: Jami LeRoy scored three goals to lead the Rams (5-5-1) over the Mustangs (1-9-1) at Waterboro.

Jane Farrell, Ursula Donovan, Monique Guimond and Isabelle Barton contributed a goal apiece.

Alysha Michaud scored in the first half and Nikki Kent added a second-half goal for Massabesic.

BONNY EAGLE 4, NOBLE 0: Peyton Dostie had three goals and an assist, all in the first half, to pace the Scots (6-3-1) to a win over the Knights (1-10-1) at North Berwick.

Heather Boutin opened the scoring less than seven minutes in.

CHEVERUS 7, MCAULEY 0: Emily Sawchuck, Sage Witham and Sarah LaQuerre scored two goals apiece as Stags (11-0) beat the visiting Lions (1-10) at Portland.

Theresa Hendrix also scored and Anna McDonough had two assists.

BOYS' SOCCER

GRAY-NEW GLOUCES-TER 4, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Kolby Arnold and Will Bartlett scored first-half goals, and Erik Schrader added two in the second half as the Patriots (6-4) beat the Rangers (3-7) at Kittery.

Evan Kenney made nine saves for the shutout.

BRUNSWICK 3, LEWIS-TON 0: Conor Kelly scored in the first half and Scott Jarosz added two in the second half to lead the Dragons (8-1) past the visiting Blue Devils (5-2-2).

Pete Morrell made six saves for the shutout. Justin Rosner, Mitch Black and Zach McMillan had assists.

ERSKINE 4, MORSE 2: Ryan Hall scored three goals, and the Eagles rallied from a 2-0 deficit (5-2-2) against the Shipbuilders (1-8) at South China.

Caleb Edmondson and Ryan Talbot each had a goal for Morse.

CONY 2, OXFORD HILLS 2: Ethan Davidson and Ryan Stewart each had a goal as Oxford Hills (1-7-1) rallied to earn a draw against the Rams (1-7-1) at Augusta.

Brandon Keiltyka and Keith Priest scored first-half goals for Cony.

VOLLEYBALL

GREELY 3, GORHAM 0: Karlee Biskup had seven kills and 40 assists for the Rangers (10-0) in their win over the Rams at Cumberland.

Maggie Bradley had eight kills and two aces for Greely.

NYA 3, CONY 0: The Panthers (1-9) earned their first victory in two seasons, beating the Rams (2-7) in straight games, 25-20, 25-21, 26-24, at Yarmouth.
