    Cheverus cruises past Lewiston for Class A baseball title

    Cheverus won its first Class A baseball state championship with a 9-1 victory over Lewiston on Saturday afternoon at Morton Field in Augusta. Peter Potthoff sparked the offense with two doubles, a homer and five RBI, and left-hander Joey Royer pitched a five-hitter and struck out seven. Cheverus finished at 18-2.
