Manchester resident Canyon Lloyd said Thursday that he attended the rally for President Barack Obama at Veterans Memorial Park because the president supports education. Most importantly, Lloyd said, the president supports Pell grants.
Lloyd, who moved from Anchorage, Alaska, five years ago, now attends Hesser College in Manchester. He said that the president's support for Pell grants would ensure that he wouldn't be saddled with debt from student loans.
"Mitt Romney said that if you want to go to college, just borrow money from your parents," Lloyd said. "I can't borrow money from mom. She already owes $46,000 (from her student loans)."
