Running and beer.
They go together almost as well as pizza and beer.
And if you're looking for the trifecta - beer, pizza AND running - you can get it with Portland Trail's annual Trail to Ale 10K Race/Walk.
The actual running part doesn't happen until 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, but the beer and pizza part kicks off Tuesday, April 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Portland Pie Co. (51 York St.)
Register for the race at Portland Pie tomorrow (any of the locations) and get a free pint of beer or soda, plus get a chance to win raffle prizes. The first 400 people who register will get a race shirt for free.
You can wear that shirt proudly in September when you tackle that 10K and then head for the after-party, which takes place this year in the middle lot of Cutter Street, above the East End boat launch, where more pizza and beer awaits.
Can't make it Tuesday? No worries; online registration begins April 12 at 6 a.m.
