Recognizing that women-owned businesses are one of the fastest growing segments of Maine's economy, Mainebiz established its Women to Watch awards last year. Tonight at The Landing at Pine Point the media company handed out the latest crop of awards, given in five categories.
Susan MacKay, the president of Zeomatrix, shows off the award honoring her leadership in the technology sector. Joining her on the stage and presenting the evening's awards were Mainebiz editor Carol Coultas, Kristy Smith of Preti Flaherty, Jane Harmon of Key Bank and Eric Jermyn of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Susan Corbett, CEO of Axiom Technologies LLC, won the communications category award.
Lisa Dickson, regional manager and principal scientist at Kleinfelder/S E A Consultants, won the professional services sector award.
Nan Heald, the executive director of Pine Tree Legal Assistance, won the nonprofit sector award.
Mary Howes, president of Howie's Welding & Fabrication and managing principal of Otis Mill Ventures, won the construction and real estate sector award.
Close to 200 people had the chance to mingle with the award recipients and the other guests in the elegant function space. I'll have more details about the party and what the honorees had to say about the awards in the Oct. 3 edition of the Maine Sunday Telegram.
Until then, I hope to see you out and about.
