The Gleason Fine Art gallery on Congress Street in Portland hosted a festive holiday party this evening to celebrate the opening of two shows: "Winter Works" and "Eye Catchers." Both feature an assortment of interesting paintings, etchings and sculptures from contemporary artists. The shows will be on view through Jan. 29 and for the duration gallery owners Dennis and Martha Gleason plan to donate 5 percent of every sale to the Portland Symphony Orchestra.
As the party was winding down, I snapped this photo of Lisa Dixon, the symphony's brand new executive director, and Leah Robertson, who serves in the symphony's development department. They're surrounded by the snow filled landscapes and the whimsical creatures which populate the two shows.
I'll have more photos and details from the event in the Dec. 19 edition of the Maine Sunday Telegram.
Until then, I hope to see you out and about.
