Tonight's successful party marking the second anniversary of Portland Greendrinks' founding couldn't have come together without a lot of hard work from a lot of people, including Sarah Cushman, of Portland Green Streets, Elliott May, who founded the local Greendrinks chapter, and Jessie Baines, who serves on the Greendrinks board. A cover charge was a new feature this month, and the proceeds went to support Portland Green Streets, which works to encourage walking, carpooling, biking and mass transit. A different nonprofit will benefit each month.
With lots of free beverages on tap, hundreds of people turned out to network with other environmentally-minded folks and check out the ground-level retail space of the apartment building known as 645 Congress - the completely transformed former Portland Hall.
I ran into a ton of great people at the party, including Jed Rathband, Emily Straubel and Will Thomas.
Be sure to check out the Scene & Heard section of this weekend's Sunday Telegram, where I'll have more party photos, info about the eco-friendly apartment building and details about the changes afoot at Greendrinks.
