The University of Maine Black Bears football team knows a few things after its 32-21 win over UMass Saturday afternoon.

Maine (8-2) has clinched an NCAA Berth (no, that is not official; but a Colonial Athletic Association team with eight wins is going to get into the NCAA's).

With a 6-1 CAA record, the Black Bears are tied for first place with Towson, which out-gunned New Hampshire Saturday, 56-42.

Maine plays at UNH next Saturday. Towson plays Rhode Island.

In NCAA Division III tournament competitions Saturday:

Bowdoin field hockey beat Keen State 4-0 in the second round.

UMass-Boston volleyball beat Bowdoin in a thriller - 23-25, 25-15, 17-25, 25-18, 15-7 - in the second round.

Trinity men's soccer topped St. Joseph's 1-0 in the first round.

In the NCAA regional cross country race at Bowdoin, USM's Molly Carl of York qualified for the women's national meet, as did Bowdoin's Madelana Rizzo. Bowdoin's Coby Horowitz qualified in the men's race.
