Connor Leen broke a 4-4 tie with his breakaway goal at 17:01 of the third period. The Black Bears then added two empty-net scores to beat Boston College 7-4 Saturday afternoon at Alfond Arena.
The victory gives the Black Bears a two-game sweep of BC this weekend, improving Maine to 12-8-3, 9-7-2 in Hockey East. BC, ranked No. 3 nationally, dropped to 14-10-1, 10-7-1.
Matt Mangene registered a hat trick for Maine, including one of the empty-netters.
BC took a quick 2-0 lead in the first 4 1/2 minutes of the game, but Maine then went 3-for-3 on the power play for a 3-2 lead.
A short-handed goal by Mangene made it 4-2, but the Eagles fought back to tie - before Leen's goal.
Maine will play two games at Boston University next weekend.
