Bowdoin College, the University of Southern Maine and the University of New England were all invited to the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament, when the field of 64 teams was announced Monday afternoon.
Bowdoin (19-7) will plays USM (21-6) in the first round on Friday, but the local rivals will be traveling to Ithaca, N.Y. for the game.
The first two rounds of the tournament are played at 16 different sites. Neither Bowdoin nor USM qualified to host, so they will play at Ithaca on Friday. Also that night, Ithaca (23-8) will play Elms (20-8). The two winners will play in the second round on Saturday.
Times for all games will be announced later.
USM and Bowdoin have played once this season, with the Huskies winning 63-49 on Nov. 29 in Gorham.
UNE (22-5) will play Johns Hopkins (23-4) on Friday at Tufts University. Tufts (21-6) will play Misericordia (17-10). The winners will meet Saturday.
