ORONO - The University of Maine scored a first-period goal, and goalie Dan Sullivan made it hold up as the Black Bears beat the University of New Hampshire 1-0 Saturday evening at the Alfond Center.
With the victory, Maine finished in fourth place in Hockey East and will have home-ice advantage in the league playoffs next weekend. The Black Bears (20-11-3) will play Merrimack.
Maine took a 1-0 lead at 10:13 on Brice O'Connor's soft wrister.
Sullivan made some nifty saves throughout the game, especially an incredible sliding left pad save in the second period.
