Boston College junior defenseman Brian Dumoulin of Biddeford has been named the Hockey East "Best Defensive Defenseman" for the second year in a row.
Dumoulin, who was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes, may be playing his final season with the Eagles. He will lead top-seeded BC in the Hockey East semifinals Friday at 5 p.m. at the TD Garden, against Providence.
Maine is playing the second semifinal game that night, against Boston University.
Hockey East announced several of its league awards Wednesday. Maine senior forward Spencer Abbott was recognized as being the top scorer in league games (15 goals/23 assists).
Abbott is a candidate for the Player of the Year award, which will be announced tonight. The Coach of the Year and All-League team will also be announced.
