The University of Maine hockey team will not have to go far for their first NCAA Tournament since 2007.

Maine (23-13-3) was assigned the No. 3 seed in the northeast regional in Worcester, Mass.The Black Bears will play Saturday against second-seeded Minnesota-Duluth (24-9-6).

Maine had been in contention for a No. 2 seed or better, before the Black Bears lost 4-1 to Boston College Saturday night in the Hockey East title game.

Boston College (29-10-1) is the top seed in the Worcester regional and will play the Air Force Academy (21-10-7). The Saturday winners will play Sunday. The Sunday winner will reach the Frozen Four.

Two other Hockey East teams reached the NCAA's, both as third seeds. UMass-Lowell will play Miami in Bridgeport, Ct., while Boston University will play Minnesota in St. Paul, Minn.
