Old Orchard Beach senior forward Ryheem Lang hit three of his seven field goals Monday against Monmouth Academy on the turnaround jump shot he worked on all last week.
Lang made one turnaround jumper in the second quarter, when the Seagulls expanded their lead to 26-18, then added two in the third quarter as they pulled away en route to the 62-42 victory.
Lang credited the work he put into the shot last week for his 7-for-8 shooting performance.
“I worked on that power dribble, drop step and turn, and on my defense. I didn’t want to foul. I tried to keep that under control,” said Lang, who finished with 14 points

Mike Lowe is a Massachusetts native who feels he's lived long enough in Maine (since 1982) to have roots here. He graduated from Boston University and has worked in New Hampshire and Maine, covering everything from the Little League World Series to the Summer Olympics.
