It's no secret that I have no love affair with heavy metal music. But you know what I do love? LIVE MUSIC! This one's for you, metal fans. What better night to bang your head and have a heck of a good time with a posse of pals then on Monday night?
This is why this week's Flyer Files salutes Asylum (121 Center Street in Portland) portlandasylum.com
They aren't afraid to book a show on a Monday night and heck, they've even made it a free one! (just be 21+)
The music starts 'round 8 p.m. on Monday, April 16, and the bands are Shabti, Hellcarver, False Prophecy and The End of Idols.
For those of you who are about to rock, you better believe I salute you. I also salute Asylum for the awesome orange flyer complete with King Kong and his damsel in distress.

Aimsel Ponti has been obsessed with - and inspired by- music since she listened to Monkees records borrowed from the town library when she was six years old. She's a huge fan of the local music scene and interviews an act every week for "Making Noise" which runs in the Press Herald GO section. You'll also find her out and about absorbing live music like a sponge and roaming around local record shops and flea markets.
