Anna & The Diggs at Portland Lobster Company

Darien Brahms and Adam Bean perform on the Western Promenade in Portland

French writer Albert Camus once said "In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." You know something? He was right. Make your summer invincible. Hit the beach, run under a sprinkler, cheer for The Red Sox, paint your toenails (mine are a vibrant shade of blue) and above all, get out there and see some live music of the outside and free persuasion.
Check out our listings in the Press Herald GO section, the Maine Sunday Telegram Audience section and online at www.mainetoday.com for ideas and then get out there.
To inspire you, I'm pleased to report that I enjoyed a double-header last night. I started off at Portland Lobster Company for some soulful rock from Anna & The Diggs annaandthediggs.com and then I made my way to Portland's Western Promenade for an acoustic set from Darien Brahms who was joined by her guitarist Adam Bean. darienbrahms.com
There's still plenty of summer left so get into the groove, people. Got it?

Aimsel Ponti has been obsessed with - and inspired by- music since she listened to Monkees records borrowed from the town library when she was six years old. She's a huge fan of the local music scene and interviews an act every week for "Making Noise" which runs in the Press Herald GO section. You'll also find her out and about absorbing live music like a sponge and roaming around local record shops and flea markets.
