The inside-the-beltway scandal de jour, featuring a now sacked House aide who leaked reporters’ emails to another reporter, has a bit of a Maine connection.
The aide in question is Kurt Bardella who was the spokesman for the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Cal.
Bardella was a one-time aide to Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, albeit briefly a few years ago between stops as an aide to Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Cal. And Sen. Susan Collins’ office shows up in an anecdote about Bardella in the New Yorker, one featuring an unnamed aide to Collins, R-Maine, complaining about, yes, Bardella leaking a report on the group ACORN to a reporter.
