Rep. Chellie Pingree says she will be showing off the work being done at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard to a group of fellow House Armed Services Committee members.
Pingree, D-1st, is going on a tour of the shipyard in Kittery today with the chairman of the committee’s readiness subcommittee, Rep. J. Randy Forbes, R-Va., the subcommittee’s top Democrat, Rep. Madeline Bordallo of Guam, and Rep. Joe Courtney, D-Conn.
“Budgets are tight and it’s more important than ever that the Pentagon spends its money carefully and wisely,” Pingree said in a statement. “I want to make sure that Members of Congress who are making these budget decisions can see that it makes sense to continue investing in Portsmouth and can see first hand the high-quality work they do there.”
