There may be a Republican primary in the 2nd Congressional District.
Republican Blaine Richardson of Belfast, a builder and Navy veteran, says he wants to challenge Democratic Rep. Mike Michaud in the 2nd District. To do that, Richardson would have to upend Maine Senate President Kevin Raye of Perry in the GOP primary.
Richardson says he is working on gathering signatures and other paperwork needed to get on the ballot as a Republican candidate in the 2nd District.
“I am a true Maine patriot and I am a real leader,” Richardson said Monday in a phone interview.
